Research Questions	Students did not develop new questions. They did not address original questions. Preliminary answers seem to be the result of a word search, not research. This is probably a copy/paste masterpiece.	Students made the effort to develop at least two new questions to extend their thinking. Preliminary answers address the questions satisfactorily.There was little interpretation or reading between the lines, though.	Clear evidence that the sudents researched thoroughly and developed new questions to extend their thinking. Insightful interpretations and analysis went into the preliminary answers.
Answers to The Big Question	The discussion doesn't show any deeper understanding of insight into the key issues.	The discussion shows more thought and piecing together of important issues involved in the topic.	The discussion clearly shows a deep understanding of the topic and an ability to see connections and make comparisons.
Five Compelling Answers	No critiquing of resources or refining of evidence took place. The Five Answers were repetitious.	Some critiquing of resources and refining of evidence was evident in the Five Answers. The range and depth were satisfactory.	Resources were analyzed critically. Evidence was compiled and refined. Five Answers were varied and compelling.
