Introduction
On the 25th of April each year across Australia a public holiday is observed to commemorate ANZAC Day. This Hunt will enable you to develop knowledge and understanding of the historical events behind this day.
Questions
- What does ANZAC stand for? Who is regarded as an ANZAC? When does ANZAC day take place?
- Identify and list the key features of an ANZAC Day ceremony.
- On a world map label the places where Australians saw active service during WWI.
- Outline the role which women played at Gallipoli. Under what conditions did the women work?
- Describe the landscape at ANZAC Cove. Explain why the Australians had difficulty on arrival at this site.
- How many soldiers were wounded and killed at Gallipoli?
